Pacific Rim: Uprising

Ed’s Review:

The sequel to Pacific Rim. It’s giant robots fighting giant monsters. John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny star. John Boyega is fine. Scott Eastwood is distracting because at times he looks and acts just like his father. Cailee Spaeny is ambiguously aged in the movie and it’s just creepy. First act is a waste, “There will be monsters in your monster movie?” Second act is a half hearted attempt at a mystery. The third act finally gives us giant robots fighting giant monsters. I can’t even say people do things because it’s in the script, they do things because it was in an earlier version of the script. They tease a sequel at the end that I want to see, sooooo I guess watch this so I get that? 6/10

Bob’s Review:

I can’t wait for the next one and kind of wish they could of just skipped this one. The story feels off like it had too many studio people working on the script before/during/after filming. Nobody is outright a bad actor in this film but some of the lines feel like they were taking from Robot Jox. I can’t wait to watch parts of this film on TV but won’t keep it on. I give it a 4/10.
