Ready Player One, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, American Made

Ready Player One

Ed’s Review: Back from Ready Player One. Super easy, did you grow up playing video games and watching a lot of TV and Movies? You will have fun watching this movie. If you didn’t you will just constantly go “Who are all these people and things?” It’s fun to look for all the cultural references, which you will need to do to distract you from the not very good story. Mark Rylance brings his A game, the rest of the actors are present. As a movie I will be super nice and say 7/10, as an entertainment experience? Let’s say 8/10? So should I see it? Volton isn’t in the movie. If you said “Oh man that would have been cool.” See it. If you said “Who?” don’t bother.

Bob’s Review: I read the book so I was sort of excited to see how they would translate the story. While they keep some of the key concepts they changed some stuff for the better in this. It’s still not the best story though which is hidden by all the pop culture references throughout the film. Would I recommend seeing this in the theater, no but when it’s on your streaming service of preference I would recommend seeing it and see what you can pick out. I give the film a 7/10.
